A Beautiful Water Heritage of Ananganadi
Plakkattukulam is one of the most significant ponds among the 16 traditional ponds of Ananganadi. Spread across an area of approximately one and a half acres, this beautiful pond stands as a remarkable example of the hard work and collective efforts of earlier generations.
One of the most distinctive features of Plakkattukulam is its ability to retain water even during the most severe summer seasons. The pond also serves as an important water source for two nearby paddy fields, supporting agricultural activities in the region.
The renovation and restoration of the pond were completed with an allocation of ₹1 Crore through the Irrigation Department of the Government of Kerala.
🏊 A Centre for Swimming Training
One of the most notable features of the renovated pond is the development of a dedicated area for swimming training for both children and adults. Today, hundreds of children depend on Plakkattukulam to learn and practice swimming.
Situated at the picturesque foothills of Ananganmala, Plakkattukulam is not only an important water resource but also a place of exceptional natural beauty and cultural significance for the people of Ananganadi.
